Digital Daydreams
I love a fresh new year! I started out this year doing something I have been wanting to give a try, but never did. Something I was not even sure I wanted to buy into, but as I sit here today after about a month into learning…it has been so much fun and rewarding already. Digital Drawing! Yes, I finally got an ipad, an apple pencil and purchased the popular, but very nicely priced software Procreate ($13) and off I went.
Wow! I am blown away with all the possibilities available in this format. It is a bit overwhelming, but I have been breaking it down into small chucks and learning little by little.
I am a beginner! Yes, learning something new and trying to be ever so patient with myself. So much to learn, but sharing as I go will help me see my progress and also keep me motivated to just keep drawing.
So let’s get into it!
Digital Mandalas
I am excited to share my recent mandala drawings I created using the software program Procreate on an ipad with an apple pencil. Procreate has a radial symmetry drawing guide function that allows you to draw in one quadrant and it shows up in the other quadrants. With the large brush selections offered and endless color choices, it is infinite what you can design and create. I would categorize this as creative play and exploration which is crucial to keeping a flow state in art making.
Titles of Mandalas-
Top row left to right: Seaweed Eyes, Scribble #152, Denim Brush Path
Second row left to right: Lobsters and Labs, Pineapple Palms, Kaleidoscope Wiggles
Third row left to right: Quilted Lines, Kale and Kiwi, Horseshoe Crabs and Flying Herons
Last row left to right: Chalky Chill, Indigo Petals, Black Eyed Susie Summer
Recent Clay Objects - Mushrooms!
Greenware (not fired at all) and Bisqueware (fired once and ready for glaze)
I made some clay goals for myself for 2024 and creating lots of little mushrooms and small dishes or bowls is top on the list. Ideas are still brewing on the daily and these are no where near finished, but I wanted to share where I am in my process of creating with clay.
Supplies used: porcelain clay, handmade texture tools and ceramic decals.
Cards of the Month:
Card making is something I try to do weekly. Here are some cards I created and sent to loved ones.
Supplies used: cardstock, colored pencils, alcohol based markers
Color Swatches
Welcome to a new segment of my blog!
Each month I will share different color swatch ideas.
So many good things happening this month! I am loving the energy and just trying to not overthink, but rather create the ideas and see what happens. Whether the art works out or not, I am moving forward at a faster pace and just trying to have all the fun with supplies and materials.
My hope for you is to have a fruitful year filled with small joys and endless blessings.
Stay creative~
