Hello, I’m Hannah!
Hannah Overman Koch is a public high school art teacher, artist and illustrator. She has created work in a wide variety of media exhibiting locally and selling jewelry, cards, paintings and ceramics both online, in local markets and community art centers. In her spare time she enjoys hiking and camping with her husband and 2 daughters. You will also find her working in a sketchbook of some kind or lesson planning new ideas all while drinking a cup of hot tea.
It all started when…
I took art in high school. I couldn’t get enough of creating with pencil, paint or screen printing and over 25 years later - I still can’t get enough of creating something with my hands and heart. Self-professed mixed media artist with a love of all things small - I cling to any art supply I have available and simply create.
Today, it may be creating greeting cards or mandalas with pen and watercolor, tomorrow a pair of ceramic earrings and the next day teaching my high school students about color theory and the crucial importance of those color relationships in their work.
A wife and mother of two daughters, I strive everyday to show them what a creative life looks like, both the joy of making with your own hands, as I was shown growing up and the self doubt that can steal your personal joy and progress in an instant. You don’t make it this far creating without a few tricks you picked up over the years to overcome those not so stellar moments that happen to us all.
As I continue to build this website, my hope is that it is an extension of my creative life and an inspiration to those who come here. Giving visual images to my work, my processes, my inspirations, my joys and even my heartaches when things don’t go as planned.
