Hot tea and Crayon Hauls
After an eventful January, I was not sure how February would shake out creatively, but I am thrilled to say the creative juices kept flowing. For the shortest month, I had high expectations and in the end felt pretty pleased with this month’s content. I shook things up a bit to add in more videos this month, that is always fun for me and still the biggest learning curve of all. Personal projects, still playing around with gouache paint and staying strong in procreate keep my days full after work and around the family schedule. Check out what I have been up to…
New painting for February inspired from my one of a kind beaded boho hearts I was making.
What’s new:
NEW videos on my Youtube Channel
I am excited to share a compilation video of some early morning paintings I have been doing in the past week or so. I have found that spending even just 5-10 minutes painting marks, simple shapes and lines greatly influences my mindset for the rest of the day. It just feels good to me to push paint around on a piece of paper and not be precious about it. I believe just these few minutes helps uplift my mood, keeps me cheerful and causes me to think to myself… “well I painted today, I did something to fill my bucket already” or “I have painted 3 days in a row now, that’s pretty good.” I view this as setting myself up for positivity around creating art and also this compounds to lots of time spent creating.
As I started painting, I decided to take snapchat videos to document the process. Then before I knew it, these few brush strokes and quick recordings made me hurry to get ready in the mornings. I wanted to move that brush around just a few minutes before I had to go. It is a tiny something, but has a big impact on me personally.

Here’s another fun little project I have been working on and made a YouTube video to share with you:

NEW FABRIC DESIGNS:
Polka Dot Parade
Thrill, excitement, curiosity and all around fun is how I would describe creating this collection for me. The geometry was the best rabbit hole of all! My hope is that the fun came through the designs. As with every collection I create, I am continuing to learn more and more on the procreate app and where I feel most at home in digital drawing.
This collection along with my other 9 collections can be found at spoonflower.com/profiles/lynndylan
For this next collection, I decided to create a big challenge for myself and see where it would take me. The ground rules I set up were the following; it had to be simple, very simple, and a flower needed to be added. This collection all started with the flower. Just nice and simple. It felt so basic to me, boring and I almost quit at that moment. But I kept pushing the idea and trying to find myself within the design. Once I put the arms on the umbrellas, the design felt more solid to me and I loved it. I found the fun in it and really wanted to see this collection through.

Recent Design Challenge Submissions
Spoonflower has design challenges all year long! As I made the decision to open a spoonflower shop, I decided I was going to do my best to enter as many challenges as possible. Now it’s the end of February and I am proud to say I have entered all design challenges thus far this year! Since my last blogpost, I submitted the following 2 designs for consideration. The Sophisticated stripe design was submitted for a wallpaper challenge. (Now I can say I have one wallpaper option in my Spoonflower Shop.) And finally the current design challenge is Novelty Paisley. So far, no winners, but that is okay, I am enjoying the process.

Coloring Station @ the JCPS Wellness Fair
smithfield, nc
Setting up my first coloring station and designing new coloring pages was just the best! For this year’s Johnston County Public Schools Wellness Fair I had all the colored pencils, highlighters and pages ready for our county’s staff and faculty to stop by and take a some time to color or grab some pages for later.
Thank you to those involved for creating another wonderful Wellness Fair for JCPS!

Stay creative out there~
