Ideas Light and Flowing

I have been learning more and more digital drawing skills and really working hard to understand how to create repeating patterns. It has been a pretty large learning curve for me, but I am thrilled to start seeing a slight bit of success as I continue to learn and explore this new medium. I have included a few of my repeating patterns on this month’s blog so you can see what I have been up to. These drawings are simple, fun and silly, nothing too serious as I try to keep my ideas light and flowing.

Repeated patterns are used in the surface design and art licensing arenas. Patterns like this that are seamless can be used for various products. Think products like; fabric, wallpaper, cards, dishes, tea towels or any products that have a decorative surface. Though I do not have my repeating patterns anywhere at this time, I am always dreaming big! So check out and see what drawings on repeat can do!

The Rocking Chair

Another skill I learned is animation! It’s just so fun! I created this rocking chair illustration from a family heirloom I came across over Thanksgiving break. Below is how I used the rocking chair in a repeating pattern.

Scribble and Erase

A fun illustration of a pencil and lined notebook paper. I tried to give the image movement and flair with eraser shavings and a drawn scribble.

Paint Brush and Palette

Illustrating fun paint supplies with a brush and watercolor palette. I enjoyed illustrating the palette with an open lid and paint splatters to age it a little.

Red Clay with Tools

I am going for a hand building clay vessel illustration and a few clay tools scattered. Of course clay gets everywhere! Another fun illustration to draw!

These are my designs for now! I hope fun is seeping out as I illustrated a few of my favorite mediums I so enjoy. Of course, always more to learn, but this is a pretty exciting development for me personally. Stay tuned!

Cards of the Month

Making cards weekly to send to my Grandparents, as well as a few other celebrations for the month.

AND

finding ways to place my digital drawings on cards.

Card Printer Research: I am actually trying to find a printer to take my digital drawings to make cards. Print on demand services are available and I got a few samples, but the paper was not what I wanted. That’s okay, this art is all about trial and error. Each no is one step closer to my yes!

In the meantime, I just keep drawing!

Lovely things happening with each passing month! I cannot believe it is almost the end of 2024. It is almost time to reflect on all the creativity for the year, but hopefully squeeze in a little more learning before we ring in the newness of 2025.

May your creative ideas stay light and flowing for the rest of the year~
