Jewelry Showers and Teardrop Flowers

I love spring more and more as each year passes. Maybe it is because the pollen doesn’t bother me like it used to or the excitement of my little garden starting to come back to life overshadows all the allergy issues I may have. Another pleasure I have looked forward to these past few years is doing a spring event called Agfest here locally in Clayton.

Agfest is a high school based event that is put on by FFA students and brings out our community to purchase plants, check out a wide variety of vendors, food trucks and learn about farm animals. It’s a big event and supports our high school students in many ways. Check out a few photos from my vendor booth at this year’s event.

Here is my table set up for Agfest with my jewelry and small home goods for sale.

A huge thank you to my dear friend Marsha Rogers for coming out to set up a table beside me to sell her amazing pottery dishes and home decor and for firing my clay work and for your unwavering support of all my crazy jewelry ideas! Love you!

One more thank you to the FFA students and advisors of Cleveland High School and those students who came out to say hello. Thank you for making this gal feel so special.

SHAPE OF THE MONTH:

TEARDROP

What a fun shape to use when I create earrings! The teardrop is a shape I come back too again and again whether with gemstone beads, metal or clay. I have always loved the way it looks worn on the ear. I would say this shape is simplistic in assembly, yet sophisticated in appearance. One design lesson I always seem to come back to is this:

A solid simple design with amazing raw materials you put together makes for a great product.

Check out the gallery below of many teardrop earrings I have had the pleasure of creating and designing over the years. Cheers to the teardrop!!

COLORING PAGE OF THE MONTH

Moveable Parts

I went a different direction this month and I am so excited! Instead of doing the shape of the month, I decided to draw things for making moveable art work. This means the bird's wings can move and the wheel has a window that can be cut out and turns to show underneath. It is tons of fun and only requires a purchase of brads from your local craft store or amazon. Directions for creating these fun interactive art pieces are found on the coloring page.

Print preferred on card stock. Color and cut out. Use brads to attach wings and/or circles together.

Recommend purchasing small brads for moveable parts.

I made a card for this bird to fly into my loved one’s mailbox.

Here is a quick video of how the birds wings can move, it’s so much fun!

Mood Wheel

Here is one way you can use the wheel from this month’s coloring page. I decided to draw fun little doodles and call it a mood wheel! You could create a color wheel or a wheel of quotes or something that inspires you. Check out the video below of this wheel in action.

What a fun time I have had coming up and working on this month’s coloring page and Agfest - making some jewelry and hanging out with my friends and family. I truly appreciate all your kind words of encouragement on everything I do from vendor shows to writing this blog to creating my clay works to making my jewelry to teaching in the classroom. You all inspire me so much to keep pressing on and just keep drawing and doing what I do. Thank you.

Stay creative~
